England will be up against Australia in the first Test Match of The Ashes 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham from June 16. Both teams are in great touch and have winning momentum on their sides. The Ashes hold a great deal of value for both the teams and their fans, so it is obvious that both of these teams would give out their best to win this match and, ultimately, the series. Talking about the recent form, England have won four of their last five test matches, whereas Australia have won two out of their five.
England had played against Ireland in their last encounter, where England won the toss and elected to field. Ireland had a shorter stay on the crease than they would have thought of in the first innings when it was good to bat on. They were bowled out for a meager 172. In reply, England did not hold back and posted a huge total of 524 runs for the loss of four wickets and declared their innings. Ireland showed a much better response while batting in their second innings, with some half-centuries scored but were bowled out for 362 runs. This meant England had a target of just 11 runs which England made easily and won the match by 10 wickets.
Australia had squared off against India in their last match, where India won the toss and elected to field. Batting on a good track, the pair of Steve Smith and Travis Head made the most of it as they scored centuries each, and Australia posted a huge total of 469 runs. In reply, India were not doing well, and with some resistance towards the end, they managed to score 296 runs. In the second innings, Australia batted well and scored 270 runs for the loss of eight wickets, after which they declared their innings, and India were given a huge target of 444 runs. India started well, but no player could convert their starts into bigger scores which ultimately meant the team was bowled out for 234, and Australia won the match by 209 runs to become the World Test Champions.

Player Picks
Steve Smith AUS | BAT
Regarded as the modern day legend and the modern Bradman, he is truly a gem in the tests. He has amassed 8947 runs in 97 tests and should definitely be named your captain.
Marnus Labuschagne AUS | BAT
The sheer consistency he brings along with him has made him reach the top spot in the Test rankings. He has scored over 3461 runs with an average of 56.73 in 38 tests.
Joe Root ENG | BAT
Root has smashed 11004 runs at an average of 50.24 in 130 tests, these stats speak for itself how great a batter Root has been. He can also bowl a few overs when needed and could be a great choice for captaincy roles.
Avoid Having These Players In Your Fantasy Sports Team
Usman Khawaja
AUS | BAT
Khawaja has not been in too good of a form lately. He should not be picked up in your fantasy team.
Zak Crawley
ENG | BAT
Crawley has not performed to his merit in the recent matches he has played. He should not find a place in your team.
