Get ready for an intense showdown at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, as England (ENG) takes on New Zealand (NZ) in the second ODI of the New Zealand tour of England 2023. New Zealand holds the upper hand in the four-match ODI series 1-0 after a convincing eight-wicket victory in the first ODI.
As England took to the crease first, openers Harry Brook and Dawid Malan set the stage with an impressive 80-run partnership. Malan's dismissal by Rachin Ravindra marked the first breakthrough. Subsequently, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler added another vital 87 runs. While the other English batters contributed brief runs, the team managed to post a formidable total of 291 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. Tim Southee and Rachin Ravindra emerged as standout bowlers for New Zealand.
New Zealand's response was nothing short of spectacular. Devon Conway, alongside Will Young, initiated proceedings with a solid 60-run partnership. Young's departure, courtesy of Adil Rashid, was England's next success. Then, Henry Nicholls briefly partnered with Conway before the latter, in tandem with Daryl Mitchell, orchestrated a phenomenal 170-run partnership. Both batters notched up centuries, steering New Zealand to victory in just 45 overs. David Willey and Adil Rashid managed to pick up a wicket each.
