Austria played their last game against Jersey on Thursday, where they batted after losing the toss. Jersey’s bowlers never allowed the Austrian batters to dominate. They could only make 34 runs in the powerplay and had lost half the team by the end of the 10th over. Jersey chased this below-par total in just 9.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Germany’s last game was against the host, Scotland. They won the toss and opted to bowl, but their decision didn’t go in their favour. Scotland dominated the game right from the word go and collected 65 runs in the powerplay. The opening duo of George Munsey and Ollie Haris added 73 runs for the first wicket. Haris, along with Richie Berrington, played a crucial role in the middle overs, while Michael Leask provided the finishing touch with his knock of 38 runs off 14 deliveries. Scotland posted 234 runs for the loss of five wickets on the board, their second-highest total in T20Is. Germany had to chase 138 runs to win the game in 11 overs, as per DLS. The batters couldn’t do much against the experienced Scottish bowlers and could only score 65 runs for the loss of seven wickets and lost the match by 72 runs.
