Gujarat Giants Women (GJ-W) will take on Mumbai Indians Women (MUM-W) in the fifth match of the Women's Premier League. This match will be played at Kotambi Stadium. 32 matches will be played in the group stages. The top team in the leaderboard will directly qualify for the final. Teams in the following two positions will play against each other in the eliminator, the winner of which will face the top team in the table in the grand finale.

Gujarat Giants after losing the season opener to Royal Challengers Bengaluru bounced back in style as they defeated UP Warriorz by six wickets in the previous match. They opted to bowl first and restricted UP to a below-par total of 143. In reply, Gujarat found themselves 2/3 within two overs but captain Ash Gardner came in and counter-attacked her way to a half century which gave Gujarat all the momentum. Once Gardner got out Harleen and Dottin continued the onslaught and Gujarat won the match comfortably. 

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians suffered a defeat against Delhi Capitals in the opening match. They scored 164 after batting first on the back of a quality half century from Nat Sciver. At one stage they looked like getting past 200 but a flurry of wickets meant they were bowled out for 164 with five balls still left. In reply, Shafali took the game away in powerplay but MI fought back well to take the match deep. With 10 needed of the final over Delhi Capitals won the game of the last ball. This promises to be an exciting match.
