Hobart Hurricanes Women (HH-W) will face Sydney Thunder Women (ST-W) in the fourth match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2024 on Monday, October 28, at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. It will be the first game of the season for both teams. The Hurricanes won six out of 14 games and finished in sixth place last season. The Thunder finished in fourth position with seven wins in 14 outings.
Both teams recently participated in the T20 Spring Challenge. The Hurricanes defeated Brisbane Heat in the final and won after chasing down the target of 134 runs with five wickets in hand. The Thunder won and lost two games each and finished in sixth place.
Elyse Villani will again lead the Hurricanes this season. She has thus far led the side in 28 games since being appointed the captain in 2022. The Hurricanes signed Danni Wyatt, Chloe Tryon, and Lizelle Lee in the international draft for this season. They utilized the associate player rule to sign Scottish all-rounder Kathryn Bryce.
The Thunder picked Heather Knight, Shabnim Ismail, Chamari Athapaththu, and Georgia Adams in the draft. Phoebe Litchfield has been appointed the captain of the side for this season.
