India Women will take on England Women in the second T20I of the three-match series on Saturday (December 9) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. England won the first game by 38 runs.
India won the toss and elected to bowl. England lost their first two wickets for just two runs. However, a partnership of 138 runs for the third wicket between Danielle Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt helped England bounce back. Wyatt was dismissed after scoring 75 runs off just 47 deliveries. Sciver-Brunt scored 77 runs off 53 deliveries and was dismissed in the 19th over. Amy Jones provided the finishing touch with her knock of 23 runs off nine deliveries, and England posted a total of 197 runs for the loss of six wickets. Renuka Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India, with three wickets for 27 runs in four overs. Shreyanka Patil picked up two wickets for 44 runs in four overs. Saika Ishaque also took one wicket for 38 runs.
India had a similar start as they lost the first two wickets inside the Powerplay but managed to collect 53 runs. Shafali Varma held on to one end but didn’t get the right support from the other end. No batter apart from her managed to cross the 30-run mark. Varma was dismissed after scoring 52 runs off 42 deliveries. India made 159 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match by 38 runs.
Sophie Ecclestone took three wickets for 15 runs in four overs. Sciver-Brunt, Freya Kemp, and Sarah Glenn picked one wicket each. Sciver-Brunt won the Player of the Match award for her all-round brilliance.
