Saurashtra will host the Rest of India in the Irani Cup 2022 match on Saturday (October 1) at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Irani Cup is a tournament in which the winner of the Ranji Trophy faces the Rest of India side comprising players from different states. This upcoming game was scheduled to be played after Saurashtra won the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy in March 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the match was canceled. Saurashtra won their maiden Ranji title after defeating Bengal in the final on the basis of the first innings lead. The squad contains ten of the 15 members of the winning team. Cheteshwar Pujara has also been included in the side. They will be led by Jaydev Unadkat. The Rest of India, on the other hand, have a solid squad under the leadership of Hanuma Vihari. Vihari recently led the South Zone team in the Duleep Trophy final against West Zone.

Cheteshwar Pujara SAU | BAT
He will be walking straight into Saurashtra’s playing 11 due to his recent exploit in county cricket as well the Royal London tournament. Pujara played for Sussex in both these tournaments and ended up as the leading run-scorer in both. In 13 innings of county cricket, he made 1094 runs including five centuries. In the Royal London Cup, he made 624 runs in nine innings at an average of 89.14 and a strike rate of 111.62 including three centuries and two half-centuries.
Hanuma Vihari ROI | BAT
In the semi-final of the Duleep Trophy, Hanuma Vihari made 134 runs in the first innings against North Zone. He, along with other players led South Zone to a total of 630 runs in the first innings, and eventually, they won the game by a huge margin of 645 runs.
Avoid Having These Players In Your Fantasy Sports Team
Snell Patel
SAU | BAT
He had a decent outing in this year’s Ranji Trophy, however, he might not be the right wicketkeeper pick for this game.
Yash Dhull
ROI | BAT
The captain of the Indian Under-19 team made centuries in both innings on his first-class debut. He recently scored 193 runs in the quarter-final of the Duleep Trophy against East Zone. The Rest of India team already has some established openers, hence, Dhull might not get a chance to feature in this game.
