Preview
The 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has entered its business end after delivering nearly a month of thrilling action. Four teams have filtered down for the battle for the championship, with Islamabad United (ISL) taking on Quetta Gladiators (QUE) on Friday (March 15) in a do-or-die match.
The two teams who have secured the third and fourth positions in the points table after the league stage will meet in Eliminator 1. The stage is set for an exciting encounter at the National Stadium in Karachi. Both the teams had equal points (11) in the group stage, but United's higher net run rate (NRR) placed them above their rival.
While one group stage encounter between the two was marred by rain, the Gladiators won the other by three wickets. However, considering its recent form, United will enter the upcoming fixture as a more confident unit. In their last matches, Shadab Khan and Co. won by three wickets, while Karachi Kings crushed Gladiators by 79 runs.
Notably, the winner of today’s match will have one more hurdle to cross in order to advance to the final – an encounter on March 16 with the losers of Qualifier 1 (Multan Sultans vs. Peshawar Zalmi).

Player Picks
Shadab Khan ISL | ALL
Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan's all-round prowess makes him the top contender in this category. The Pakistan cricketer has amassed 278 runs in nine innings at an average of 39.71, including three fifties. He also took ten wickets and is currently the highest wicket taker for his team.
Saud Shakeel QUE | BAT
Quetta Gladiators' opener Saud Shakeel is currently the fifth-highest run-scorer in the tournament and the highest for his team. The left-hander has scored 323 runs at an average of 40.38 with two half-centuries.
Colin Munro ISL | BAT
Colin Munro is currently the top scorer for Islamabad United this season (309 runs at 34.33 with three fifties). Notably, the southpaw had scored a match-winning 40-ball 84 in their last match against Multan Sultans.
Jason Roy QUE | BAT
Although Jason Roy has not been impressive in the last few matches, the Englishman is still the second top scorer for Quetta Gladiators. The destructive opener has scored 252 runs at an average of 28.00, which includes two half-centuries.
Naseem Shah ISL | BOWL
Pakistan star pacer Naseem Shah is definitely a player to watch out for in the upcoming clash. The right-arm fast bowler has taken 10 wickets in 8 matches so far this season.
Agha Salman ISL | BAT
The Pakistan all-rounder has become more efficient with the bat this season. He has scored the second-most runs for Islamabad United - 264 runs in nine innings at an average of 37.71 with two half-centuries.
Rilee Rossouw QUE | BAT
He hasn't had a great batting performance so far this season. But the Proteas batter is expected to play a crucial role in the must-win match.
Abrar Ahmed QUE | BOWL
Quetta Gladiators pacer Abrar Ahmed is currently the third highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He has taken 15 wickets in 9 Innings.
Avoid Having These Players In Your Fantasy Sports Team
Alex Hales
ISL | BAT
Picking Alex Hales in your team would be a bad move given his poor form this season. The English batter has managed to amass only 124 runs in eight innings, averaging 15.50.
Usman Tariq
QUE | BAT
Pakistan cricketer Usman Tariq is also not a great pick. His performance was not that impressive as he took just two wickets in four matches.
