Jaffna Kings will face Galle Marvels in the second match of the Lanka Premier League 2024 on Tuesday (July 2) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. It will be both teams' first game of the season. Kandy Falcons defeated Dambulla Sixers by six wickets in the season opener on Monday.

Charith Aslanka has replaced Thisara Perera as the captain of the side this year. Last season, Jaffna finished in fourth place with three wins in eight matches. They lost the eliminator match against Kandy last year by 61 runs.
Cricket Marvels LLC owned by Prem Thakkar acquired the team from Galle. They changed the name from Galle Titans to Galle Marvels. The team finished as the runner-up in their first two seasons of the LPL. They have failed to make it to the final in the last two seasons. Galle won four out of eight games last season and were in second position. They lost both the qualifiers and were eliminated from the tournament last year.
