MI lost their previous game against Lucknow Super Giants by a mere margin of five runs. LSG posted a total of 177 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs with the help of a great knock of 89 runs off 47 deliveries from Marcus Stoinis. In reply, MI could make 172 runs for the loss of five wickets. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma provided a solid start adding 90 runs for the loss of wickets. But the next few batters failed to make a mark for MI.
SRH scored 186 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs while batting first against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last game. Heinrich Klaasen made his maiden IPL century and finished with 104 runs off 51 deliveries. But his innings was overshadowed by Virat Kohli made his sixth IPL ton. RCB chased down the total in 19.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Both teams have faced each other 20 times in IPL so far. MI have won 11 games, while SRH have won the remaining nine. MI won the first-leg game this season and have won three out of the last five matches against SRH.
