Middlesex will lock horns with Sussex in the 60th match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at the Lord’s in London on June 8. Middlesex have lost all their seven matches so far and are languishing at the bottom of the South Group. Sussex, on the other hand, have won just one of their six and are second to last in the rankings of the South Group.
Middlesex had squared off against Hampshire in their last match, where Middlesex won the toss and elected to field. Hampshire had an explosive start even though they lost their first wicket early. However, during the middle overs, they got slower and lost momentum. They got a decent finish which led them to a score of 164 for the loss of six wickets. Middlesex had the worst possible start as they lost both their openers on ducks. Their middle order tried to rebuild and did a significant job, but they kept losing wickets, which ultimately hurt them. Hampshire ultimately won the match by five runs.
Sussex had played against Essex in their last encounter, where Sussex won the toss and elected to bat. Sussex would not have thought that choosing to bat would be a wrong decision. They had a sloppy start, further worsened by the regular falling of wickets. Their middle order did score some runs, which led them to a decent total of 147 runs before being bundled out. Chase was not so easy as Essex lost a wicket early, but their top order did not let it slide. They had a fantastic second-wicket partnership of 76 runs in a span of just five overs. Essex chased down the target with more than five overs to spare and won the match by five wickets.
