Northern Brave had a good partnership for the second wicket but then were not able to find another significant partnership which hurt them in the end as they lost by just six runs.
Wellington Blaze Women had played against Otago Volts Women in their last encounter where Wellington Blaze Women won the toss and elected to bat. They lost a wicket early after a slow start which could have put them into a difficult position but a fantastic second-wicket partnership eased them. It was followed by another brilliant partnership which helped them post a good total of 159 runs on the board. Otago started well and the second wicket partnership worth 60 runs made it look like they would win it easily but Wellington pulled back amazingly and scalped regularly. They eventually won the game by 20 runs.
