New Zealand (NZ) will take on Sri Lanka (SL) in the first ODI match of the Series. This match will be played at Basin Reserve in Wellington. Sri Lanka won the T20I series 2-1 and will be high on confidence coming into this ODI leg. New Zealand and Sri Lanka have faced each other in 105 matches in ODI. Out of these 105 games, New Zealand have won 52 whereas Sri Lanka has come out victories 43 times.

Sri Lanka have made four changes to the side that played and ODI last month with Dushan Hemantha, Kusal Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Dishan Madushanka not getting picked. Besides Hasaranga, Sri Lanka have also brought in batter Nuwanidu Fernando and the uncapped medium-pacer Eshan Malinga.

For New Zealand, this series will be the team's last before they pick their squad for the Champions Trophy. The trio of Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry return to the side with Mitch Santner taking over as captain. They will be trying out a few new players who have done well in the domestic circuit. This promises to be a thrilling match between these two sides.
