Preview

Australia Women will be pitted against New Zealand Women in the third and final T20I in Wellington on Wednesday, with the visitors already having a stamp on the series with back-to-back dominant wins. Australia has ridden their dominance through their openers primarily, who went berserk from the outset in both fixtures.

Beth Mooney has smashed 75 and 70 while facing 42 deliveries in both games, helping them take New Zealand by the scruff of the neck. While her partner has been equally brutal with her, 50 and 36 saw the opening partnership scaling dizzy heights in a matter of no time, making the White Ferns' comeback improbable from there on. While Annabel Sutherland (4/8) and Alana King (3/27) dismantled the Kiwis in Mount Maunganui, it holds the bowling outfit in good stead after coming into this series with an enduring middling WPL season.

New Zealand, the reigning T20 World Cup champions, on the other hand, have looked a pale shadow of themselves, having no answers to Australia's no-holds-barred approach. While they were quite circumspect with the bat in the opener, in the last game their bowling unit caved in while confronting Mooney and Perry's crushing blows as Kangaroos powered to 204/3. And in reply, except for Amelia Kerr's 40, the remainder of the batting outfit seemed to be in a hurry to join the dressing room, as getting steamrolled just for 122 in 16.1 overs, New Zealand suffered an ignominious 82-run loss and T20I rubber as well.

Blackcaps will take the field to salvage their pride, hoping to have a comforting win, while Australia will likely throw caution to the wind again to whitewash the hosts in their familiar territory.
