Oval Invincibles had squared off against Birmingham Phoenix in their last encounter where the toss was won by the Invincibles and they elected to field. Jamie Smith led the carnage as he smashed 60 runs off just 33 balls and they scored 160 runs in the first innings. Invincibles returned to chase the total but were slow and sloppy. London Spirit had played against Trent Rockets in their last match where the toss was won by the Rockets and they elected to field. Spirit lost a wicket early but had a fantastic second-wicket partnership to pull things back. This was followed by a couple of even better partnerships and as a result, they were able to post a huge total of 195 runs. Rockets did not back away from such a target and were going ahead fiercely. The match got extremely interesting in the end where Spirit were able to keep their calm and clinch victory by two runs.
