Hong Kong started decently and was cruising ahead to the chase, but their middle order folded up as soon as spinners were introduced. They were bowled out for 92 and lost the match by 68 runs.

Afghanistan had squared off against Sri Lanka in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field. Afghanistan lost the first wicket at just one run but had back-to-back fantastic partnerships to make a comeback. However, their middle and lower order were not able to contribute anything significant as they were bowled out for just 116. Sri Lanka were not too better a side as well, as they could not take advantage of the low total and were bowled out in return for 108, losing the match by just eight runs.
