Pakistan will be up against Afghanistan in the 22nd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 23. Pakistan has been decent in their run so far with two wins from four matches while Afghanistan has won just one match. They are placed fifth and last in the rankings respectively. 

Pakistan squared off against Australia in their last match where Pakistan won the toss and elected to field. This decision was proved to be a nightmare for the Pakistani bowlers as the opening duo of Australia had a dreamy run where they amassed 259 runs. Rest of the team could not very well continue with the start they got but still ended up 367 runs on the board. Pakistan too started well and several of their batters got starts but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals which hurt them in the end as they lost the match by 62 runs.

Afghanistan squared off against New Zealand in their last match where Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field. After a good start from their top order, the middle order fumbled a little as they went from 109 for 1 to 110 for 4, but the experience of Latham and Phillips came to their aid as they took the command and reached a strong total of 288 on a slow pitch. Afghanistan was never in the chase as they kept losing wickets right from the start. Few of their batters did get starts but none of them could solidify and hence lost the match by a huge margin of 149 runs.
