Against the Punjab Kings, the Royals won the toss and elected to bowl. The Kings reached 197 runs for the loss of four wickets by the end of the 20th over. Both openers, Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan, scored half-centuries each for the team. The Royals scored 57 runs in the powerplay but lost three wickets, including Jaiswal and Buttler. The middle order did the rescue work and were successful in that. Shimron Hetmyer played a knock of 36 runs off 18 deliveries. But the hero of the match for the Royals was Dhruv Jurel. The debutant came as an impact player and scored 32 runs off 15 deliveries. Although the Royals lost the game, they found a player in Jurel who could play some ridiculous shots.
The Capitals have played two games so far and lost both. In the first game against the Lucknow Super Giants, the Capitals failed to chase down the target of 194 runs and fell short of the target by 50 runs. In the second game against the Gujarat Titans, the Capitals scored 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. David Warner, Sarfaraz Khan, and Axar Patel played knocks of 30-odd runs.
The Titans didn’t have a great start to their chase as they lost three wickets inside the first six overs. Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar provided the Titans with great support. They both added 53 runs for the fourth wicket and helped the Titans surpass the 100-run mark. David Miller, who was playing his first game of the season, finished the game for the Titans alongside Sudharsan. Miller scored unbeaten 31 runs off 16 deliveries, while Sudharsan remained not out on 62 runs off 48 deliveries. Sudharsan won the Player of the Match award for his batting performance.
