The Scorchers initially faced adversity, losing two wickets with just four runs on the board. However, a resilient partnership between Aaron Hardie and Josh Inglis saw them steady the innings, amassing a crucial 120-run alliance for the third wicket. Inglis showcased his batting prowess, contributing 64 runs from 44 deliveries, while Hardie added 57 runs from 41 balls. However, Joe Clarke and Shaun Marsh orchestrated a comeback, forging a partnership of 75 runs for the third wicket, propelling the team past the 100-run mark. Marsh emerged as the top run-scorer, tallying a brisk 59 runs off 36 deliveries. Despite their collective efforts, the Renegades faced a late collapse, losing their last six wickets for 38 runs. The Scorchers ultimately secured victory by 13 runs in a tightly contested match.
Strikers took on Melbourne Stars in their last game, where the Stars won the toss and elected to bowl. Matthew Short and Chris Lynn had a great outing with the bat and helped the Stars post a total of 205 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Short made 56 runs off 32 deliveries, while Lynn scored 83 runs off 42 deliveries and remained unbetean. Glenn Maxwell was the pick of the bowlers for the Stars and took two wickets for 21 runs in three overs.
Dan Lawrence, Beau Webster, and Marcus Stoinis helped the Stars reach the target of 206 runs in 19 overs. Stoinis played an unbeaten fast-paced knock of 55 runs off just 19 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award.
