Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) will take on Durban Super Giants (DSG) in the final of the SA20 2024 at the Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday, February 10.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape topped the points in the group stage with seven wins, two losses, and one no-result in seven encounters, racking up 33 points. Later, they defeated Durban Super Giants by 51 runs in the first qualifier to make their way to the grand finale.
The defending champions, led by Aiden Markram, have enough potential to defend their title. The Eastern Cape have an impressive blend of batting and bowling talent and they would be giving their best on the field to add a second title to their cabinet.
On the other hand, Durban Super Giants also had an impressive league phase, winning seven games and losing just three games in 10 clashes, carrying 32 points. In the playoffs, they lost to Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 51 runs in the first qualifier. However, they made a strong comeback over Joburg with a win by 69 runs in the second qualifier to make it to the final.
Led by Keshav Maharaj, the Giants will be missing Marcus Stoinis and Noor Ahmad, who will be a part of their national duties. However, the Giants have a good enough all-round unit that can reverse their fortunes, avenging their loss in the first qualifier, and clinching their first title.
