Sri Lanka (SL) will lock horns with West Indies (WI) in the 9th match of the Super Sixes round of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 7. Sri Lanka have won all their four matches so far and are at the top of the table. West Indies, on the other hand, have won just one of their four matches and are fifth in the rankings.
Sri Lanka had played against Zimbabwe in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field. Zimbabwe were off to a horrible start as they had lost three wickets for the score of just 30 runs. They had an excellent fourth wicket partnership but still could not save the team from having a collapse, and the team was bundled out for 165, where Williams scored a fantastic fifty. Sri Lanka had no problems chasing the target due to the opening stand of 103 runs. Nissanka scored an unbeaten century and helped the team quickly chase the target with 17 overs to spare.
West Indies had squared off against Oman in their last match, where West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl. Oman had started decently but were unlucky to lose their opener in a run-out incident. The middle performed relatively well, and there were a couple of fifties scored by Shoain and Suraj, which led the team to score 221 runs at the loss of nine wickets. West Indies lost a wicket early, but Brandon King held the fort at one end with his beautiful century. He was helped by Keacy Carty first and then later by Captain Hope. West Indies won the match easily by seven wickets with more than ten overs to spare.
