Adelaide Strikers (STR) will take on Brisbane Heat (HEA) in the third match of the BBL 2023-24 on Saturday (December 9) at the Adelaide Oval. Heat won their first game against Melbourne Stars, while Strikers will play their first match of the season.

Strikers finished in 7th position last season with five wins in 14 games. Matthew Short has been named the skipper of the team for this season. Ryan Gibson, Colin de Grandhomme, Harry Conway, Peter Siddle, and Jordan Buckingham have been released by the team this season. Rashid Khan has withdrawn his name from the tournament due to a back injury. David Payne was signed as a replacement for Rashid. Jamie Overton and Adam Hose were the two international players who were picked in the draft by the Strikers. D’Arcy Short, who played for Hobart Hurricanes since the 2016-17 season, has signed a two year deal with the Strikers.

Heat posted a total of 214 runs for the loss of three wickets against the Melbourne Stars. Colin Murno played a crucial role with the bat and remained unbeaten on 99 runs off 61 deliveries, including nine fours and five sixes. The Stars were bundled out for 111 runs in 15.1 overs and lost the match by a huge margin of 103 runs. Mitchell Swepson was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 23 runs in 3.1 overs. Michael Neser and Xavier Bartlett took two wickets each.
