Sydney Thunder (THU) will lock horns with Melbourne Renegades (REN) in the 40th match of the BBL 2023-2024 at the Sydney Showground Stadium in Sydney on January 17. Neither of these teams have had a good season so far, with just one and two wins, respectively. They also occupy the bottom two positions in the points table.
Sydney Thunder squared off against Sydney Sixers in their last encounter, where Sydney Thunder won the toss and elected to bowl. The Sixers did not start well, losing Smith on the very first ball, but a second-wicket partnership worth 59 runs brought them back. This partnership was then followed by a couple of more decent partnerships, which led the team to a total of 157 runs. Thunder had a thunderous approach to the chase as they amassed 44 runs for the first wicket in four overs, but after the fall of the first wicket, they just kept losing one after the other. They eventually lost the game by 19 runs.
Melbourne Renegades played against Melbourne Stars in their last match, where Melbourne Renegades won the toss and elected to bowl. Stars started aggressively but lost a couple of wickets in the process as well. By the end of seven overs, they were in a good position, but the fall of the third wicket meant wickets were falling in a heap. They were only able to score 138 runs by the time their innings came to an end. Renegades lost a wicket early but had a brilliant second-wicket partnership. They were easily able to chase the target as they won the game by six wickets with 16 balls to spare.

Player Picks
Daniel Sams THU | ALL
Sams has proven to be one of the best all-rounders in BBL history. He has performed with the bat as well as the ball this season as well and should be the leader of your fantasy side.
Jake Fraser-McGurk REN | BAT
Jake has been in sensational form where he has smashed 257 runs at a strike rate of 158.64 in eight matches. He is surely a pick you can consider for leadership roles in your team.
Alex Hales THU | BAT
Hales has done a good job in scoring 258 runs with a strike rate of 140.98 in nine games. He has smashed 27 boundaries and 13 huge sixes so far in the tournament.
Avoid Having These Players In Your Fantasy Sports Team
Nic Maddinson
REN | BAT
Nick has played five matches so far but has failed to impress the critics. With just 48 runs to his name, he should not find a place in your team.
Peter Siddle
REN | BOWL
Siddle has not been up to the mark with his performances. He should not be placed in your fantasy teams as well.
