Preview
The United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands will play the second match of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday (October 16) at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. Both the teams were scheduled to play two warm-up matches before the commencement of this game against West Indies and Scotland. The Netherlands lost their match against Scotland by 18 runs after failing to chase the target of 152 runs. The top-order did a tremendous job for the Netherlands, however, the middle order failed to recreate the same magic. They will be hoping for a better performance from the batters going forward in the tournament. Netherlands’ second warm-up game against West Indies was abandoned due to rain.
The United Arab Emirates, on the other hand, had a similar fate in the warm-up matches. They lost the first game against the two-time champions West Indies by 17 runs. UAE had a similar story to that of the Netherlands. The bowlers managed to restrict the West Indies batters to just 152 runs. In the reply, the Emirati batters failed to provide the required start as well as finish. Apart from Waseem Muhammad and Zawar Farid, no other batter managed to make a double-digit score. This will be the ninth T20I game between the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands and the first since October 2019. UAE have defeated the Netherlands in four of the last five matches.
