The Global T20 Canada 2024 is set to kick off with the tournament opener between the Vancouver Originals and the Toronto Nationals. The tournament's inaugural game will be played at the CAA Centre in Brampton on July 25. Both teams will be eyeing a winning start to their campaign in the new edition of the tournament.

Last year in the 2023 edition, Toronto Nationals failed to make it to the knockouts; they could win only one match in the final five games they played in the tournament’s league stage. Besides this, they faced three defeats, including an abandoned game.

On the other hand, the Vancouver Knights made it to the second qualifier of the tournament where they lost to Montreal Tigers by a narrow margin of only 1 wicket. Before the second qualifier, they lost the first qualifier to Surrey by 38 runs.
