West Indies will take on England in the first match of the five-match T20I series on Tuesday (December 12) at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. West Indies won the three-match ODI series by a 2-1 margin after winning the last game by four wickets on the DLS method.

England last played a T20I series against New Zealand in August and September this year. Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Brydon Carse, Chris Jordan, and Luke Wood have been dropped from the side that faced New Zealand. John Turner was picked in the side but was later ruled out due to a side strain. Turner has found a place in the squad for the upcoming series. Josh Tongue was also ruled out of the last series due to a pectoral injury. Tonge suffered another injury during the England Lions training camp in UAE last month, which has ruled him out of this series. Matthew Potts will replace Tongue in this series. Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Chris Woakes, and Tymal Mills have been added to the squad for this series.

West Indies played their last T20I series against India in August and won the five-match series by 3-2. They made some interesting changes in the squad from the last series. Andre Russell has been picked in the T20I side for the first time in two years. He last played for the West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2021. Sherfane Rutherford, who last played a T20I for the West Indies in January 2020, has found a place in the squad. Rovman Powell will continue to lead the side. Shai Hope has been appointed Powell’s deputy. Odean Smith, Johnson Charles, Obed McCoy, and Oshane Thomas have not been picked in the side for this series. Matthew Forde has also found a place in the squad after making his ODI debut against England in the last match of the recently concluded series.
