Zimbabwe and Kenya will renew their age-old rivalry in one of the most unusual settings. The two teams meet each other in the second semi-finals of the Men’s African Games 2024 on Thursday. The two sides have made it to the semi-finals on the back of contrasting runs in the group phases.
Zimbabwe (ZIM) ended their group unbeaten with three wins. In the last game of the league phase, the Clive Madande-led side easily overcame the Nigerian challenge. An easy win by 10 wickets showed the class that the Zimbabweans have possessed so far this tournament.
Kenya (KEN) had to find their fighting spirit to make it to the final four stages of the tournament. After a loss in the opening game, Rakep Patel and his side bounced back well to win two games in succession. Their win over hosts Ghana booked their place in the semi-finals against Zimbabwe.

Player Picks
Collins Obuya KNA | ALL
The veteran Kenyan all-rounder has been at the center of the turnaround. The move of making Collins Obuya open the batting has worked well as the 42-year-old has scored two successive fifties. Kenya thanks to these efforts have been able to consolidate and make it to the next phase of the tournament.
Tadiwanashe Marumani ZIM | BAT
Young Zimbabwean opener Tadiwanashe Marumani has been in decent nick with the bat. Despite not having some of their senior players like Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, and Craig Ervine, Zimbabwe have been levels above others. Their easy passage into the semis and a possible medal will help them forget the pains of not making it to the T20 World Cup 2024.

Gerard Muthui
KNA | ALL
The Kenyan spinner was expensive in his last game as he gave away 17 runs without picking a wicket. Gerard Muthui has been inconsistent with the ball so far in this tournament. This is a huge cause of concern for the Kenyan side led by Rakep Patel.
Emmanuel Bundi
KNA | BOWL
Considered the fastest bowler in the Kenyan setup it has been a tournament to forget for Emmanuel Bundi so far. His two overs cost his side 10 runs but there were no wickets to show for his efforts.
