Zimbabwe (ZIM) will host the Netherlands (NED) in the third ODI of the ongoing three-match series on Saturday (March 25) at the Harare Sports Club. The Netherlands stunned Zimbabwe in the first game as they chased down the target of 250 runs on the penultimate delivery. Teja Nidamanuru’s 110 runs off 96 deliveries helped the Netherlands bounce back after half the team was back in the pavilion for just 64 runs.

In the second ODI, the top order was in fine form, and Zimbabwe posted a total of 271 runs while batting first. Sean Williams, who missed the first game, scored 77 runs off 73 deliveries and was the highest scorer for the team. Clive Mandane made a half-century again and added 104 runs for the sixth wicket along with Williams. Shariz Ahmed picked a fifer for the Netherlands and was the pick of the bowlers.

The Netherlands lost their first wicket in the 8th over. After which, Max O’Dowd and Tom Cooper played key roles for the team. The Zimbabwean bowlers struggled against these two as they played shots all over the park. The second breakthrough came for Zimbabwe in the 33rd over as Cooper was run out for 74 runs. This could have opened the floodgates, but O’Dowd and Colin Ackermann ensured that the momentum was not lost. The ultimate shift came in the 44th over bowled by Wessly Madhevere. He became only the third Zimbabwean bowler to pick a hat-trick in ODIs. The magician named Sikandar Raza bowled the 49th over and dismissed the Dutch skipper, Scott Edwards, for 36 runs. The Netherlands required 19 runs from the last over to earn an unassailable lead. Ryan Klein and Fred Klaassen gathered 15 runs off the first five deliveries, and the Netherlands were just one hit away from a famous victory. Klaassen hit a full-toss towards the extra cover, but the batters could gather only two runs, and Zimbabwe won the match on the final delivery by one run. This was only the second time Zimbabwe won an ODI by the smallest margin.

Pitch Report

The batters and the bowlers have received a good amount of support from Harare’s pitch in the first two games. Both the matches went to the wire and won by a close margin. This script might repeat in this game. The average first innings score in the last five ODIs at this venue has been 231 runs.

Sikandar Raza ZIM | ALL

The star all-rounder failed to leave an impact with the bat in the last game but compensated with his bowling. He picked three wickets for 39 runs in nine overs, including the pricey scalp of Scott Edwards.

8
C

Clive Madande ZIM | WK

The wicketkeeper-batter has been the consistent scorer for Zimbabwe in the two matches so far. He scored 74 runs off 98 deliveries in the first game and registered his maiden half-century. In the second game, he continued from where he left in his last outing. Madande scored 52 runs off 57 deliveries in the second ODI.

C

Wesley Madhevere ZIM | ALL

The 22-year-old all-rounder scored 43 runs off 50 deliveries with the bat in the last game. With the ball, he picked three wickets for 36 runs in nine overs and became only the third Zimbabwean bowler to pick a hat-trick in ODIs. Madhevere earned his maiden Player of the Match award in ODIs for this performance.

8.5

Scott Edwards NED | WK

The skipper of the Netherlands has been one of the most successful batters for the team in the last few months. No other batters have made more runs than him in ODIs since 2022 for the Netherlands. Edwards scored 36 runs off 28 deliveries in the second ODI and hit two fours and one six.

9.5

Colin Ackermann NED | BAT

The 31-year-old all-rounder scored a half-century in the first match and made 28 runs in the last game. Ackermann picked two wickets for 51 runs as well in the second ODI.

6.5

Wellington Masakadza ZIM | BOWL

8

Shariz Ahmad NED | BOWL

9

Fred Klaassen NED | BOWL

The 30-year-old pacer picked three wickets for 41 runs in the first game. He made ten runs off just three deliveries in the last match.

Avoid Having These Players In Your Fantasy Sports Team

9

Ryan Burl

ZIM | ALL

The 28-year-old all-rounder is one of the most experienced players in the current squad. He won the Player of the Match award against Australia last year in Zimbabwe’s historic win over the former world champions. However, Burl has not tasted success in his last few outings and can be avoided for this game.

9.5

Gary Ballance

ZIM | BAT

The former England batter has played just four ODIs for Zimbabwe, his birth country, and has scored more than 25 runs only once. You can avoid picking him in your fantasy team for this match.
