Former Australian pace bowler Brett Lee, one of the fastest bowlers of his generation feels that India has a terrific pace attack with the variety of ‘hit the deck hard’ kind of bowlers Mohammed Shami, swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav with his sheer pace.

The 30-year-old also emphasized the importance of bowlers using the gym for better results and suggested training with light weights over heavy weights to get stronger. “Fast bowling is all about the right technique and muscle mass,” he explained.

Australia has decided to rest their pacemen Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood for the forthcoming series against South Africa and Brett Lee is not among the one’s who support the decision.

Lee believes that the resting time can make someone’s way out of the squad as the one who comes in as a replacement might impress with his bowling performance and the rested player will be the one who misses out. “What happens is that a bowler plays three games and then rests for a game, another guy comes in a gets a five for. Then you think about bringing the rested bowler back or continuing with the same bowler. This is how doubt and insecurity creep in a team,” said Lee, who had claimed 718 international wickets across three formats of the game.

However, the question of what happens if a player continues to play an entire year seems to be a tricky one, considering the workload a bowler will have in the busy international schedule. Lee’s Kanchi Warriors are placed sixth in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) with two points against their name.
