Out of favor Shikhar Dhawan hits the gym ahead of third Test
Dhawan did not feature in the Lord's Test.
Veteran Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan did not find a place in the Indian playing eleven that took the field against England in the recently concluded Lord’s Test. The match turned out to be a forgetful one for the visitors as they suffered an embarrassing defeat owing to their batting failure in both the innings. For the numbers, this was India’s first innings defeat under the leadership of Virat Kohli.
With the result, the series now stands at 0-2 in the favour of the hosts. With the third Test coming up, the Indian side has started to scratch their heads to get their act right soon in the series. The team management will have to get their permutations and combinations right since the series will be at stake in the third Test.
This, in all means, serves as a good chance for the benched players in the squad to put their hands up to make it to the playing eleven. Among the lot, the eyes would be on veteran star Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw featured in the first Test of the series but failed to leave an imprint. He scored 26 and 13 in the two innings of the game and looked shaky against the moving deliveries.
In the second Test, he was dropped from the side and team India opted to go with Murali Vijay and KL Rahul as their opening combination. Much against all expectations, both Vijay and Rahul struggled to get their feet moving against the swinging deliveries and failed in each innings of the game.
Dhawan sweats out in the gym
This perfectly sets up the stage for Dhawan to make a comeback. If given an opportunity, Dhawan certainly does not wish to let it go. No wonder why he is sweating it out at the gym ahead of the third Test. He took to micro blogging site Twitter to share a video of his workout.
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure – Colin Powell #TeamIndia #WorkingHard,” Shikhar Dhawan captioned his video.
