FIA directed by Lahore court to file a case against Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam
It remains to be seen if any further action will be taken against Babar Azam regarding the complaint filed against him.
Pakistan batting sensation Babar Azam could be facing some tough times. News has come in that a complaint has been filed against Azam by a woman. The woman, Hamiza Mukthar, has alleged that she had been blackmailed and harassed by Azam and has now complained to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the matter. The FIA has now been asked to file a case against Azam.
An earlier complaint filed by Mukthar was not investigated properly, and now, she has gone ahead and filed a fresh complaint. The woman had earlier stated that Azam had exploited her sexually, and she even had to undergo an abortion.
In the fresh complaint, she has even alleged that she has been getting calls from unknown sources warning her of dreadful consequences for her complaint against the Pakistan cricketer.
The order is prima facie against the law: Babar Azam’s legal counsel
Meanwhile, the legal counsel of Babar Azam stated that an instant order had been passed without even issuing a notice to Azam regarding the matter. Azam’s legal counsel also added that the order is against the law.
“The instant order has been passed without issuing a notice to Babar in violation of his fundamental rights of a fair trial as guaranteed in the constitution. The order is prima facie against the law and will be assailed soon,” said Barrister Haris Azmat, the legal counsel of Azam.
Azam is one of the most prized possessions of Pakistan cricket. The 26-year-old batting sensation is the third-highest run-scorer for Pakistan in T20Is and has scored 1730 runs at an excellent average of 48.05. The right-hander also averages a stunning 55.94 in ODI cricket and has already scored 3580 runs from just 75 innings in the ODI format of the game.
He has also accumulated good numbers in the whites for his country as well. In the 57 innings that Azam has played in Test cricket, he has scored 2167 runs and has scored them at a good average of 44.22. Azam will be now be getting ready to tour the land of the Proteas. The Pakistan side is slated to face South Africa in 3 ODIs and 4 T20Is in the month of April, and Azam will lead his country’s charge in South Africa. It remains to be seen if any further action will be taken against Azam regarding the complaint filed against him.
