Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin has landed himself in trouble, as FIR has been filed against him for ‘cheating’ a travel agent. A case was registered against Azharuddin and two others for allegedly duping a travel agent off nearly 21 lakhs. Azharuddin, however, completely dismissed the allegations against him and termed it as ‘baseless’, stating that he will file a defamation case worth Rs.100 crores against the complainant.

FIR was filled by Shahab, who is the owner of Danish Tours and Travel agency in Maharashtra’s city Aurangabad. As per the FIR, the former cricketer apparently booked flights worth Rs.20.96 lakhs for himself and others in November last year. The payments for the flights are yet to be paid and the owner Shahab, allegedly made bookings on the request of Azharuddin’s personal assistant Mujib Khan and he promised the owner of the travel agency that he will ensure that the payments of the bookings will be made online to them.

Shahab in his complaint also mentioned about the fact that when he asked for his payment, Khan’s associate Sudesh Awakkal apparently sent an email saying he has already transferred Rs 10.6 lakhs to him but it was not received yet. In November last year, he also sent a picture on WhatsApp of a cheque issued to him, but in his complaint, he clearly alleged to he did not receive any payment of the payment, the police said.

Mohammad Azharuddin to file defamation case worth 100 crores INR

Shahab on Wednesday lodged an official complaint against Azharuddin, Mujib Khan and Awakkal under the Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (common intention).

Azharuddin completely denied the allegations made against him and posted a video message today on Twitter. He said “There is no truth in the complaint and is made just to be in the limelight. The allegations made in the complaint are baseless, and I will seek legal advice and file defamation case worth Rs.100 crores against complainant.”

He also put a caption with the video and wrote, “I strongly rubbish the false FIR filed against me in Aurangabad. I’m consulting my legal team, and would be taking necessary actions”.
