Team India is taking on Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI match of the series being played at the Harare Sports Club on August 22 (Monday). The Men in Blue are in a solid situation after batter Shubman Gill stroked an excellent century with a strike rate of above 100 and put his side in a commanding situation in the first innings.

Team India won the toss and opted to have a bat first on a good-looking batting surface. Opening batters skipper KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan gave a solid start to the visiting team as they both stitched a 50+ run partnership for the opening wicket. However, Rahul was soon scalped after that as the right-handed batter scored 30 runs.

Dhawan was then joined by Gill as both batters tried to form a partnership, but unfortunately for the Indian side, Dhawan was sent back to the pavilion by Brad Evans. The left-handed batter scored 40 runs off 68 balls and stroked five boundaries. After the fall of Dhawan, another left-handed batter Ishan Kishan replaced him.

Gill and Kishan stitched a 150+ run partnership for the third wicket

Both Ishan and Gill were looking to rebuild the innings and played cautiously at the start. However, Gill did not require many sighters as he started to play his shots. The right-handed batter throughout the innings played each ball at its merit and punished the bad balls towards the boundary ropes.

Kishan on the other hand also played excellently as he played risk-free cricket, but still completed his fifty in just 61 balls as the left-handed batter stroked six boundaries to reach the mark. However, team India was jolted by two big blows as Kishan and Deepak Hooda were sent back to the pavilion within an over.

Gill then completed his maiden century in the international arena as he took just 82 balls and smashed 12 boundaries. Gill has been in good touch lately and will want to finish strongly in this innings. To note, Gill also joined the list of Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli to become the youngest Indian batter to score an overseas century. Overall he is in the third position behind Yuvraj and Kohli.
