Five batsmen who can break Chris Gayle's record for the fastest hundred in IPL history
The Universe Boss amassed the record back in 2013 against the Pune Warriors.
Jonny Bairstow
The Englishman made his first appearance in the T20 extravaganza in the last season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Along with his rival David Warner, Jonny Bairstow set the tone for the team with their whirlwind opening stand on more occasions than one. While Bairstow kept giving breezy starts to the team, he was missing out on racking up a massive score.
In his third IPL match, the Yorkshire-born scored his maiden century and finished his knock with 114 off just 56 balls. In the process, Warner and Bairstow stitched a mammoth partnership of 185 runs – the highest opening stand in IPL history.
While Bairstow had to leave the tournament midway to commit to international duties, in ten games he had left a lasting impression, amassing 445 runs. With the right-hander likely to be available for a full season next year, we could witness the record getting broken.
