A lot of records belonged to the overseas players after the first couple of seasons.

It was a bit surprising that for almost two seasons there was not one Indian batsman who scored a century. As many as six players scored tons across 2008 and 2009 and five of those came in 2008. But the drought ended when the second season nearly came to an end.

It was Manish Pandey who broke the jinx and put his name in the history books. He became the first-ever Indian player to score a hundred in the IPL. In the final group stage encounter of the 2009 season, Pandey was playing just his third game of the tournament and he simply grabbed all the limelight.

Pandey scored an unbeaten 114 off 73 balls as he led RCB’s charge with the bat. He was the reason they got to 170 batting first. No other batsman crossed the 25-run mark. He made history with that knock as he became the first Indian and also just the second uncapped batsman (at the time, after Shaun Marsh) to score an IPL hundred.
