Five Irresponsible acts by Indian fans following India’s semifinal defeat: The anticipation was huge for the Semi-Final encounter between India and Australia at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and the expectations from the team were ‘SKYHIGH’; with the kind of cricket the India team displayed in the tournament thus far WE WON’T GIVE IT BACK was on everyone lips but right from the toss the things did not pan out the way Indians fans would have liked it and eventually we lost in a one sided encounter. This loss did not go well with the fans and we saw some outrageous, terrible reactions of the fans after the tragic loss. Here are the five irresponsible things which Indians fan did after team’s tragic loss against Australia at SCG in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 semifinal. 1. Blaming Anushka for the defeat: Indian fans have been blaming Virat Kohli’s girl friend Anushka Sharma for the batsman’s poor form (© Getty Images) Ansuhka Sharma, more in news these days as Virat Kohli’s Girl friend, flew to Australia for this match to cheer up the team and Virat of course. But, unfortunately Virat could not perform well and fans since his dismissal have held Anushka Sharma responsible for the distraction of the Indian vice-captain. Jokes after Jokes have flown in social media cursing Anushka while the poor lady doesn’t have anything to do with the poor performance of the team. It is something totally avoidable and fans should learn to respect the personal space even public figures like cricketers require. 2. Immediately after the loss offensive comments and jokes flew all over the micro-blogging website Twitter and social media platform Facebook; some used sarcastic comments while others abused the crickets. We as fans need to realize there can be only one winner in sports and every time our team cannot simply go out there and keep beating opponents. There will be days when they will lose and those are the times when the team actually looks out for support from the fans. 3. Breaking TV Sets: Visuals of fans breaking TV sets appeared on Indian New Channels and on social media (Photo Soucre : Facebook) Numerous people gathered in a prominent area of Kanpur and broke the television sets after team India’s loss, the slogans of Virat Kohli and Indian team ‘Murdabad’ were also being shouted in full aggression. While this defies rationality, one must understand and learn to treat sports like a game and accept defeat gracefully. Which will go on to help the players handle such depressing loses better. 4. Burning Posters of the Players: Some disappointed fans took to the street and burnt posters, pictures of the Indian team in retaliation to India’s world cup exit (Photo Source: NDTV) In another tragic incident that happened is that the posters of leading Indian cricketers were burnt in the several cities of our country after the loss. This is not only disgusting but also shows the rigidity and mindset of those fans who support the team only and when it is winning. Whereas the real test of character of not only the players but also the fans is how they handle the after effects of defeat. 5. Security Concern: Security at Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s residence at Ranchi was instantly beefed up to prevent any unwanted incident (Photo Source: Facebook) The security was increased at the homes of every leading cricketer of the country as there was constant threat that infuriated fan might attack their homes. Paramilitary force was seen outside Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s house protecting his family. This was a precautionary move as we had seen outrageous fans pelting stones at residence of a few Indian cricketers following team India’s defeat in the ICC World T20 2014 finals.
