3. Gives Virat Kohli the freedom to concentrate on his batting
Over the last two years or so, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been a work-horse. He leads the side across all the formats. Add to it his importance to the side with the willow in hand. We have seen the workload taking a heavy toll on his body in recent times. He missed playing county cricket ahead of the England series due to an injury and had to be rested for the Asia Cup.
Giving the captaincy over to Rohit Sharma in white ball cricket will ease the burden on him. It has been a while since Rohit featured in a Test match and is unlikely to make it into the final crop in the near future.
