The reputation Sachin Tendulkar had on him in a team sport like cricket is impeccable which saw changes to the fortunes of the game in India. Sachin saw India turn into a cricket crazy nation during his career where he kept scaling new highs in the record books. He set new benchmarks for most runs, century, fifties, fours, matches and many other things during his 24-year career. Some of those might be broken soon while some might remain forever with the master blaster.
Here are the five records of Sachin Tendulkar which might not be broken:
1. Most runs in Test cricket and ODI cricket:
Sachin Tendulkar held the record for most runs in ODI cricket halfway through his ODI career. The 2nd half was all about how long he went ahead of the other players. He ended his ODI career with 18426 runs scoring 4000 runs more than the next. The Indian batsman ended his Test career as the leading run-getter in the format with 15921 runs. Many players have threatened to break Sachin’s records but the ones started well but failed to keep going while the ones who made remarkable rise fell short of the mountain.
2. Most runs in International cricket:
If there are any minor chances of someone breaking Sachin’s record for most runs in Test or ODI format, they might surely not look at having a chance of surpassing his International tally. Tendulkar ended his career with 34357 runs across all formats, 6341 runs more than Ricky Ponting who is standing at No.2. Among the active players, only AB de Villiers (20014) scored over 20000 runs in all formats.
3. Most fifty-plus scores:
While Virat Kohli’s consistency threatens the Sachin Tendulkar’s century records, the record of most number of fifty-plus scores is here to stay forever. Tendulkar scored 145 fifty-plus scores in the ODI format 27 more than the 2nd best and 119 in Test cricket which are 16 more than the next highest. Sachin scored a total of 264 fifty-plus scores in International cricket which are 47 more than the 2nd best Ricky Ponting (217) and 108 more than highest among the active players AB de Villiers (156).
4. Most boundary fours:
It will need some doing for any player to go past Tendulkar’s tally of fours he recorded in Test and ODI formats. He hit about 2058(+) fours in Test cricket and 2016 in the ODI format which are more than 400 fours than the next best. He ended his career with 4076(+) fours in International cricket which are 1000 more than the next on the list Jacques Kallis (3015).
5. Most Matches:
Sachin Tendulkar’s 24-year long career came to an end with an appearance in his 200th Test match. His 200 Test appearances will well remain a record as the next best is 168 by Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh. Tendulkar holds the record for most ODI appearances (463) and International appearances (664) which are a mountain to scale for the players of the current generation. Mahela Jayawardene came close to Sachin as he featured in 448 ODIs and 652 International games but fell short of the record.
