Five Things that could have made India win the semi final vs Australia: Thursday the 26th of March, 2015 was not a normal working day for Indians as some bunked their college, office for the all Important India-Australia semi final clash while others arranged TV or watched it on Internet during the office hours. The hype this match generated was unprecedented but unfortunately for Indians; the match did not go the way they would have liked it to and they eventually lost. So, here are the five things that could have happened differently in today’s game which would have possibly changed the final outcome of the match. 1. Toss: (© Getty Images) As we all speculated before the match that toss would be absolutely crucial in the encounter as no one would have wanted to chase under immense pressure and it turned out that way Dhoni could not win the toss which cost us considerably. In this World Cup India has always set-up a total and defended it so who knows India could have posted a good total and Australia might have crumbled under pressure. 2. Wickets with New Ball: (© Getty Images) The new ball was doing all sorts of mischief in the first few over’s and Australian batsmen were finding it very tough to negotiate it but some luck made them survive that tough initial burst of Shami and Umesh as they only lost one wicket and later on capitalized on that start. Three Wickets in first 10 over’s could have made a difference. 3. Use of reverse Swing: (© Getty Images) Dhoni pointed out in the after match press conference that his bowlers could not make full use of the reverse swing that was available when the ball got a bit older. At around 35-40 over’s ball started to reverse a bit and if Indians would have utilized it well then we could have managed to restrict them at a par score. 4. Openers could not convert their start: (Photo Source:ICC) Both Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got off to a very good start but unfortunately both the batsmen could not convert that start into a substantial innings. Shikhar threw his wicket away when he was looking really good and Rohit Sharma got out to a peach of a delivery from Michell Johnson. If they would stayed together for a tad longer who knows we could have chased down the target. 5. Virat’s Failure: (© Getty Images) Experts and fan knew If India were to chase the score down, then Virat Kohli has to score a hundred as India has scripted some fabulous chases in the past few years on the back of Virat kohli’s brilliance so Virat Kohli was absolutely crucial for India but Kohli got out cheaply on 1 from 13 deliveries and with his departure India’s chances of chasing this score became almost impossible.
