Asad Shafiq bagged a major feather in his cap when he broke into the Pakistan cricket team on the back of some fine innings in the domestic circuit in 2010. The formidable batsman adds the right balance to the middle order unit. The 34-year-old has featured in 77 Test matches as of now. Scoring at an average of 38.2, Asad has garnered 4660 runs laced up with 12 hundred and 27 fifties.

Talking about his ordinary turn of events this year, the right-hander managed to produce only 132 runs in 4 Test matches. His inconsistent form has cost the Pakistan cricket team some precious matches. In the 3rd Test match against England, he collected only 26 runs in both the innings. Eventually, he was unable to play his role to perfection throughout the year.

Therefore, Asad takes over the 5th position as a player tasked up with the responsibility of bailing out teams under pressure. It is yet to be seen whether the experienced batsman taps into the right mode in the upcoming high-octane series or wane away with time.
