The ruthless Men in Blue, captained by Virat Kohli, have completed their ‘mission demolish Sri Lanka‘. In all the formats of the game, they outplayed, outclassed and humiliated the hosts. There was not a single match where the Indians have failed to find the taste of victory. Completing a 9-0 rout, it is time for some rest as in a week’s time, they will have to face the mighty Aussies in grilling limited-overs home tour.
But there is no such term called as ‘rest day’ in Virat’s dictionary. The lad from Delhi sweats it out every day in the gym to keep himself in the best shape. The epitome of fitness has introduced a similar sense of consciousness towards health and fitness among his teammates, as every member donning the blue jersey is now a bit more concerned about their physique.
We have seen vastly experienced players like Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh miss out on the opportunity of returning to the team, owing to their lack of fitness. Hence, it is clearly written on the wall for every player who wants to don the Indian jersey sooner or later- you have to be fit. Kohli has to set the benchmark so that his warriors can get enough motivation from their leader.
Won’t tolerate a ‘cheat day’
He never fails in setting up an example. On Friday (September 8), he showed exactly why he is one of the best batters, if not the best, in the current era. Kohli uploaded a picture of himself on Facebook training hard in the gym despite a ‘rest day’. The caption of the image is a testament to his mounting success- “Rest day is a cheat day, never stop working hard. ??.” This is exactly what makes him extraordinary and places him in a league different from the rest.
Rest day is a cheat day, never stop working hard. 💪🏃
