Most in Australia including the cricketers and media are critical of Virat Kohli and the Indian team. On this tour, they’ve not just focused on the cricket but have also been the aggressors during the on-field banters. Kohli, in particular, has been criticized by one an all for overstepping the line and what not, however, Brad Hogg sees nothing wrong in it.
He has, in fact, defended the Indian captain saying that it is his energy that the team thrives on. Hogg things the entire unit looks up to him and feed off his charisma. Kohli is at a different level even with his athleticism and expects the same from the rest of the side.
“Virat Kohli is the energy of this Indian team. He is their clear leader and they feed off him. You just see him on the field – his athleticism is different and he expects that from the Indian team,” Hogg was quoted as saying on India Today.
Team thrives on Kohli’s energy
He loves the way Kohli leads his team by example, he does it himself before expecting and then the rest have to follow suit.
“And what he expects from the team, he does as well, so it is not as if he is telling the team what to do without leading from the front. He is actually leading from the front and asking his teammates to follow him,” the former Australian spinner added.
When talking about Kohli the batsman Hogg agreed that no one can come close to his level at this point. Though he thinks Usman Khawaja was good in the second innings for the composure he maintained. “As a batsman too, Kohli is on a different level to anyone else. Perhaps only Usman Khawaja came close, that too in the second innings where he batted with a lot of composure,” the 47-year-old further stated.
