In response to concerns for his well-being, police were called to the residence of former Australian cricketer Michael Slater as he appeared in court once more. On July 14, police arrived at the 52-year-old’s residence in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. They requested an ambulance to take Slater to Northern Beaches Hospital when they got there.
He remained in the hospital up until Monday, when he was arrested for violating his bail and hauled to the Manly police station. On Monday afternoon, Slater appeared before the Manly local court. Magistrate Megan Greenwood issued him a strict conditional bail order, which stipulates that he must abstain from alcohol and narcotics and maintain good behaviour.
Additionally, as per a report by The Telegraph, Slater is forbidden from getting in touch with a number of complainants who have violence orders pending against him. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges that were levied in the month of May, which stated he assaulted and stalked/intimidated his ex-partner.
Michael Slater was granted bail on medical grounds in April
A different event from 2021 was the subject of charges earlier this year, but those charges were dropped for mental health reasons. In January of the following year, Slater appeared in court once more to contest the allegations. In April, he was cleared of domestic violence charges in a Sydney provincial court due to his mental health. Magistrate Ross Hudson imposed a 12-month medication regimen under the doctor’s supervision on Slater.
The former batter received a three-week sentence in a mental health facility rather than a prison term. Before being diagnosed with major depressive illness, borderline personality disorder, alcoholism, and ADHA, Slater saw five psychiatrists and spent 108 days in various mental health facilities earlier this year.
In October 2021, Slater, 52, was charged by the state police of New South Wales with stalking and harassment of his ex-partner. His admission to a mental health facility was made a condition of his release on bail in December after he repeatedly called and texted his ex-partner in violation of a restraining order (he called her 18 times and sent her 66 texts).
