Salil Ankola, the former India player who acted in few films is set to return to the big screen as he is going to play a negative role in a Mahesh Manjerekar movie. However, the name of the movie is not yet decided but as per reports, it will also star the likes of Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan.

Talking about the movie, 50-year-old Ankola said that he will play a negative role. “I will be the negative lead in the film. He talks less and is a ruthless killer. The film is high on action and the character has to look non-villainous, tougher and fitter so as to look convincing in the climax,” said Ankola who represented India in 1 Tests and 20 ODIs.

Cricket debut with Tendulkar

Notably, Ankola made his debut for India against Imran Khan led Pakistan which saw Sachin Tendulkar take the cricket ground for the country for the first time. However, unlike Tendulkar Ankola failed to impress the selectors for the long run and soon was dropped from the side. His regular fitness issues did not do any good for the tall bowler as he did not get another opportunity to represent the country in the Tests.

Ankola is known for his fitness then started his career in acting and starred in a few movies. Kurukshetra and Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne were few of the noted films where Ankola acted. His last movie on the big screen was 2012 release, Riwayat. He has also acted on the small screen with Karmaphal Daata Shani being one of the mythological series.

According to Ankola, Manjrerakr is his old friend who wanted Ankola to do the role in the movie. “Mahesh being an old friend, who has known me for a long time, knows my fitness levels. He was very keen on me doing the role. I will be seen in a never seen before avatar so I am pretty much excited,” said Ankola in the statement.
