Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott is recovering after a quadruple heart bypass surgery

Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott played 108 Tests in which he amassed 8114 runs, which included 22 hundreds before announcing his retirement in 1982. After being a legendary name on the field, Boycott started his new innings in the broadcasting business and has been one of the finest commentators on air.

However, the former English cricketer had recently gone through a quadruple heart bypass surgery in Leeds on June 27 and for which he spent 10 days under the complete surveillance of the doctors. The cricketer’s family released a statement on his present condition and the details regarding his treatment.

Boycott hopes to be back on air for the 3rd Test vs India

Boycott’s daughter Emma Boycott mentioned in her statement that her father’s operation has ended in a successful process. He has been discharged and taken home for further recovery from the invasive surgery. Emma noted that the healing process from the bypass surgery will take a passage of time and her father will not be available to be in the commentary panel for the first two Test matches between England and India.

The hosts England will be taking on the Indian team in a five-match Test series starting with the first Test match at Edgbaston between August 1 to August 6. However, Boycott’s daughter mentioned that the former cricketer will probably be back on air for the 3rd Test match at Nottingham.

“The surgeon says the operation was a success and has now allowed him home to recover from the invasive surgery. This will take some time so he will not be commentating at the start of the England v India Test match series but hopes to be back at work for the 3rd Test match at Nottingham,” said the statement released by Boycott’s family on his health.

Boycott is a popular broadcaster for the BBC radio show Test Match Special and a message was posted on the Twitter account wishing the former England cricketer for a speedy recovery and looking forward to welcoming him back on the radio show soon. “We wish @GeoffreyBoycott a speedy recovery & look forward to welcoming you back into the @bbctms box soon,” said a message on the Twitter account for BBC radio show Test Match Special.
