Former England cricketer Rob Key, amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, has suffered a mini-stroke and is currently recovering from it. He himself took to social media to reveal the news to his fans and followers on Monday morning. However, he also cleared that he is recovering from the stroke and is in a better condition now compared to the weekend.

Key played 15 Tests and 5 ODIs for England between 2002 and 2005 while playing a solitary T20 International in 2009. While he couldn’t do much in the 50-over format, Key is still remembered for his 221-run knock against the West Indies at Lord’s. It also turned out to be his only 100+ innings apart from three half-centuries. He scored 775 runs in 26 innings in the longer format at an average of 31.

Coming back to his social media post, Rob Key thanked Kent and Canterbury hospital for taking care of him during his ill health. “Long weekend. Turns out I’ve had a mini-stroke. Thanks to everyone at the kent and Canterbury hospital especially Charlie And dr baht. Now got to eat food with no flavour and take pills,” his Instagram post was captioned with a picture of him lying on a bed in the hospital.

His domestic career spanned from 1998 to 2015 and played 299 first-class, 225 List-A and 98 T20 matches. He also captained the county for nine seasons across two spells and went on to amass 19419 runs in FC cricket with 54 centuries and 76 half-centuries at an average of 40.45.
