Former India cricketer Jacob Martin met with an accident
He represented India in 10 ODIs.
The former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin has met with an unfortunate accident while going on his two-wheeler 10 to 12 days ago. He is in the hospital at the moment and the treatment is in progress. Martin is also the ex-coach of Baroda team and had led the team during his playing days. He was the first skipper for the Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan who later went on to play for the national side.
Yusuf Pathan, who is currently playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, took to his official Twitter account to reveal the news of Martin’s unfortunate incident. He also wished his first captain speedy recovery and prayed for his well-being.
“Former India cricketer and ex-Baroda coach Jacob Martin met with an accident and is in the hospital. Wish you a speedy recovery Jacob bhai and praying for your wellbeing. #getwellsoon,” Yusuf’s tweet read.
Martin’s career
Jacob Martin played 10 One-Day Internationals for India during his international career which spanned for two years. He went on to score 158 runs in eight outings with the bat at an average of 22.57. However, during his playing days, there was always a good word about him saying that he should be judged not just on the stats and facts but also on style and attitude.
His 1998-1999 season for Baroda was a breakthrough one for the solid right-handed batsman as he was then one of only half a dozen players to score more than 1000 runs in a season which also helped him Martin make his international debut against Windies in Toronto in September 1999.
Jacob Martin shifted his base to Railways in 2002-03 domestic season but returned to his home state again to play for four more seasons. However, due to some selection issues, he announced his retirement in the middle of 2007-08 season only to revert his decision and feature in the next edition.
