Born in a small town in Jalna, Maharashtra, Vijay Zol had no facilities at his disposal to grow as a cricketer. But amazed by his dedication towards the game, his father hired a personal coach and prepared a cemented wicket for him. Later, Zol had to give up studies to focus completely on the game. He made the headlines by scoring a double-century in his Ranji Trophy debut for Maharashtra.

He was a part of the Indian U-19 squad that won the U-19 World Cup in 2012. He captained the side in the next edition where India got eliminated after losing against England in the semis. Before the U-19 World Cup, he won four series as the captain. He soon found himself a place in the roster of Virat Kohli-led Indian Premier League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

But with the rise of new talents, names like Vijay Zol has gradually faded away. He got a chance to play just 3 IPL games. He impressed in none, as he scored just 29 runs in total. The 22-year-old batsman recently got engaged. He has posted a picture with his bride on Instagram.

In the caption, the left-handed batsman wrote “Say hello to my forever! ? #engagedlife”.

Zol is not alone

Recently, former Indian left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan got engaged with actress Sagarika Ghatge. Sagarika is famous for her role in Shah Rukh Khan starer Chak De India. Zaheer announced the news on social media. Zol has played 14 first-class matches. He has scored 723 runs in those with an average of just above 38. He has also played 15 List A matches and 14 T20s.

His last match was a List A match for Maharashtra earlier this year, against Tamil Nadu. He scored just 18 runs in that match. His career highest is a monumental 451 in a Cooch Behar U-19 game. He had scored a century on first-class debut for India A against New Zealand A. But due to his poor run of form, he is far from the current proceedings.
