The 44 -year-old cricketer was a part of the Indian side in the 2000s. Mongia’s political plunge was confirmed by the official Twitter handle of ANI. “Former cricketer Dinesh Mongia to join Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi today,” read the tweet from the official Twitter handle of ANI.

Dinesh Mongia played 57 ODIs for the Indian side
Dinesh Mongia represented the Indian side in 57 ODI matches and a single T20I game. The left-handed batter scored 1230 runs in ODI cricket and scored his runs at an average of close to 28 and a strike rate of over 70. Mongia also scored a hundred and 4 fifties in ODI cricket as well. The left-hander’s only century in ODI cricket came in the year 2002 when he blasted a whirlwind 159* off 147 deliveries against the Zimbabwe side.
Mongia also scored 38 runs in the only T20I match that he played for the ‘Men in Blue’. Mongia also picked up 14 wickets with his left-arm spin in ODI cricket as well. Dinesh Mongia played his last international match for the Indian cricket team in the year 2007.
Mongia was also a part of the Indian side that reached the summit clash of the 2003 ODI World Cup. He played 6 innings in the World Cup and scored 120 runs at an average of 20.00. He was also a part of the Indian side that won the NatWest Series in England in the year 2002.
