Former Yorkshire club cricketer passes away at the age of 28
He had notably represented England at the U19 level.
Chris Allison, former county club cricketer, who played for Yorkshire, passed away at the age of 28. He had spent his junior years playing for the club’s academy side. Allison led his side to victory over MCC in the last summer and played for several other clubs like Guisborough, Marske, Stokesley, Great Ayton, and Marton Cricket Club.
He had amassed over 6500 premier division runs along with bagging 277 wickets. He had notably represented England at the U19 level. In 2013, reportedly he had also claimed the wicket of English opening batsman Keaton Jennings in T20 encounter against the Durham County Cricket Club.
In that match, Allison had scored a half-century and returned to bowling with impressive figures of 1/8 in three overs. The one wicket was that of England batsman Keaton Jennings who was a century-maker today. Tributes to Chris have flooded the social media with him described as “polite” and “courteous” and an integral part of North Yorkshire and South Durham ECB Premier League.
League President has some words
Chris West, the president of North Yorkshire and South Durham was quoted as saying by Gazettelive.co.uk, “I think it is safe to say that the whole NYSD cricket family was stunned and desperately saddened to hear the terrible news about Chris.”
He has been such an integral part of our great league for many years – it is almost impossible to believe that he has gone. He had an “insatiable appetite” to play for the league’s representative sides and was “always the first one to play” and played in the “famous groundbreaking national success of 2008” when Durham became the first ever and the only non-ECB Premier League to lift the trophy.”
He further continued by saying “Beyond the game of cricket, I cannot speak too highly of Chris. Always polite and courteous and eager to talk about the game he loved. I saw him many times over the recent season and he was genuinely keen to know how I was getting along. This is numbing news and almost impossible to process. I feel such sorrow for all of his family – my heart goes out to them.”
